


Personal Care and Homemaker Services - BI/CFC/CIH/CMHS/EBD
Under Colorado’s Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waivers—including BI, CFC, CIH, CMHS, and EBD—are designed to support individuals in performing daily activities they are unable to do on their own due to age, disability, or medical condition.
Personal Care Services Include:

1. Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
These are basic tasks necessary for self-care, such as:

Bathing

Dressing and grooming

Eating/feeding assistance

Toileting and incontinence care
-
Mobility assistance (transferring, walking, repositioning in bed)

2. Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs)
These are more complex tasks that allow a person to live independently:

Light housekeeping (laundry, vacuuming, dusting)

Meal preparation and clean-up
-
Medication reminders (non-medical)
-
Grocery shopping and essential errands
-
Accompanying medical appointments (non-transport)
